Prince George, seven and Princess Charlotte, six, delighted royal fans as they joined their father Prince William, 39, for a special outing in Norfolk on Sunday. The young Cambridges stepped out beside dad William to cheer on runners taking part in the Run Sandringham race, with an adorable video from the events showing the hands-on dad leaning down to tell his children to clap when the runners come past.

A body language expert has analysed the clip and claimed it shows the future king introducing his offspring to the ways of royal duty.

Body language expert and author Judi James told Express.co.uk: “This undeniably sweet moment could be George and Charlotte performing their first royal duty, doing the countdown at the start of a race, with their father doing a very gentle job of inducting them into the Firm.”

William is “the perfect parent” to his son George, having also suffered “social shyness” as a child, Judi claimed.

She added: “A trait for shy body language runs in the family but, having shown signals of social shyness himself for much of his life, William is the perfect parent to help George, in particular, gain confidence when all eyes are on him.”

Judi explained: “It is so good to see him walking off with his eldest son’s hand in his own, providing a sense of security and reassurance as well as making the young heir to the throne looking like a real chip off the old block.”

The Duke displays deep pride in his children as he bends down to share the microphone with them, the analyst said.

Judi explained: “As William bends to share the mic with his children, his lop-sided smile shows encouragement and pride as well as letting them know that they should be enjoying the experience as well.”

While George and Charlotte initially look cautious, outgoing Charlotte displays her own levels of confidence.

Monday is William’s 39th birthday and he is likely to have celebrated the milestone with family at Anmer Hall over the weekend.

George and Charlotte are third and fourth in line to the throne followed by their little brother Prince Louis, three.

Their position in the line of succession means George will one day be king while Charlotte and Louis may become working members of the Firm in future.

William and Kate are protective of their children’s privacy but share new family photos with the public to mark important milestones.

New photos of William with his two eldest in Norfolk at the weekend delighted fans with many commenting on how much George and Charlotte had grown over the past year.

Royal Family members wish William a happy birthday on social media on Monday.

The Queen’s birthday message to her grandson read: ” Wishing The Duke of Cambridge a very Happy Birthday today! #HappyBirthdayHRH“

Prince Charles shared a throwback photo of himself with William as a baby.
