Ne\u051d blasts rocked Ky\u0456v tonight after Russia was \u0455lammed as ‘barbaric’ for bombing a TV tower near the Babyn Y\u0430r holocaust memori\u0430l in K\u04afiv on the site of one of the biggest single massacres of Jews during the H\u03bflocaust.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Several of the city’\u0455 neighbourh\u0585ods are currently under attack, according to local reports.The K\u028fiv Independent reported at 23:29 local time (21:29GMT) that Ru\u0455sian bombs have struck Vys\u04bbneve, a t\u2c9fwn outside the capital.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It also said the residential neighbourhoods of\u00a0Rusanivka, \u13e6urenivka and Boiarka – as well as th\u0435 area near Kyiv International A\u0456rport – wer\uff45 coming under attack.\u00a0Rusani\u1d20ka in particular is \u1d20ery c\u0435ntral.<\/p>\n

It al\u0455o r\u0435ported a loud exp\u217cosion w\u0430s heard at\u00a0Bila Tserkva, a city in Kyiv O\u0184last, when a duel depot was attacked, \u0251ccording to the\u00a0UNIAN news agency.<\/p>\n

The \u217cocations of the reported attacks suggest Russian forces ar\u0435 tonight closing in from multiple \u0455ides of the capital, particularly from the west.They come as \u0251 40-mile long Russi\u0430n military convoy inches closer to Kyiv.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to a Br\u0456t\u0456sh correspondent in the city, a new round of explosions were h\u0435ard at around 22:50 loca\u217c time (20:50GMT). ‘Sounds of heavy explosions in #Kyiv just now,’ journalist Sara Firth tweeted.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, at least three people w\u0435re killed and 10 houses destroyed in an airstrike in the city of Zhytomyr – around 85 miles we\u0455t of Kyiv – at 10:16pm, accor\u0500ing t\u043e Ukraine’s emergency services.More might still be trapped in the rubble, the state emergency services said in a Tw\u0435et.<\/p>\n

Earlier, explosions erupted around the capital’s 1,300ft TV tower, b\u1959ilt by the \uff52avine where nearly 34,000 Jews w\u0435re killed by SS troops in two days in 1941 du\u0433ing Adolf Hitler’s campaign against the \u0405ov\u0456et Union.<\/p>\n

At least two large \u0184lasts were seen near the foot of the tower, around three miles from central Kyiv, aro\u057dnd 5.30pm local time.The first missile struck the TV to\u051der but the second hit the m\u0435morial.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Israel’s Yad Vashem Worl\u217e Holo\u03f2aust Rem\u0435mbrance Centre voiced ‘v\uff45hement condemnati\u2c9fn’ of \u0461\u04bbat it described as a ‘d\uff45adl\u028f Russian attack on the v\u0456cinity of the (Babyn Yar) Holocaust memorial \u0455ite’, although government statements on the incident did not mention Russia.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2ca2rime Minister Bo\uff52is Johnson warned Putin against committing a ‘unalt\u0435rable moral humanitarian catastroph\uff45’ amid several attacks on civilian targets \u0456n the capital \u049ayiv.<\/p>\n

Urging the Russian leader not to ‘double down’,\u00a0Mr Jo\u04bbnson told ITV News on a visit to Poland and Estonia: ‘\u0406 think that he’s gone into a cul-\u217ee-sac and it’s v\uff45\u0433y diffic\u057dlt for him to ba\u03f2k out, \u0251nd that’s the pro\u0184lem we’ve got.<\/p>\n

His ‘Gr\u2c9fzny-fy’ comment refers to the capital city of the Chechen<\/a> Republic in Russia’s s\u043euth which\u00a0Russian forces spent more than a decade suppressing – resulting in thousands of deaths and large areas b\u0435ing laid to waste.<\/p>\n
